Frances Bowen Ortiz, 89, of Carbondale, passed peacefully surrounded by family, Friday, February 25, 2022.
She was born July 25, 1932, in Fort Worth, Texas, the daughter of Joseph and Thelma (Bowen) August.
Frances was employed by Hallmark Cards for 20 years, retiring in 1987.
Mrs. Ortiz was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary VFW.
Frances married Richard L. Ortiz on November 12, 1952 in Fresno, California. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1993. Survivors include her son, Ron Ortiz (Dee) of Topeka, daughter Cathy Ortiz of Carbondale; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Joseph Davis of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Richard "Doug" Douglas Ortiz and her great-granddaughter Michaela in 2002; and her son Timothy Alvarez Sr. last year.
Frances enjoyed planting flowers and adored her family.
Frances was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship, 430 Commercial Street, Carbondale, KS, 66414.
