Frances Snodgrass

February 24, 1929 — February 26, 2014

Frances (Ebel) Kastner Snodgrass, 85, passed away February 26, 2014. She is survived by her husband, Don Snodgrass, son Jerry (Julie) Kastner, grandsons Andrew (Caitlin) Kastner, Matthew (Brianna) Kastner, and great grandson, Benton Walberg Kastner; Don's children, Vickie, Donna and Lonny, and their four children that she cherished as her own, Shawna Marie and Brandi Lynne Lemka, Chase Taylor Myers and Linsey Elizabeth Snodgrass; a brother Dean Ebel, sons Brent and Travis, and her precious aunt Mary Barnes. She was preceded in death by a son, Steven Charles Kastner.

Frances was born in Russell, KS, February 24, 1929. Her parents, Leo and Mollie (Riffel) Ebel, lived next door to her maternal grandparents, four aunts, and three uncles. They all spoiled her for six years before her family moved to a farm near Wamego, KS. After graduation from Wamego High School in 1947, she moved to Topeka. Her secretarial skills drew her into political activities in the early 1950's and shaped her future career.

After her two sons were in school, she developed a list of clients and provided Legislative Information Services to them from 1963 through 2002. Among her original clients was the Kansas Food Dealers Association, which is the State Trade Association for Grocers. She became Director of Governmental Affairs in 1976, testifying at hearings and sending reviews of legislation to grocery stores until she retired in December 2002.

One of Frances' favorite quotes was "True Love is a Friendship that Caught Fire".

She enjoyed cooking and sharing recipes. Reading, writing and sewing were among her hobbies. She had a full and happy life, and wants family and friends to remember the good times.

Private graveside services were held at West Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
