Francis H. "Frank" Beal, 83, Gladstone, MO, formerly of Topeka, KS passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2010.
Frank was born July 19, 1927 to Arnold H. and Juanita S (Melloish) Koenitzer in Marietta, Ohio. He and his mother moved to Meriden, KS in 1928, and then moved to Topeka in 1936 where he lived until he moved to Gladstone, MO in 2005. He attended Topeka Schools, graduating from Topeka High School in 1945. Frank served in the United States Navy from 1945-46. He graduated from Washburn University in 1959. He was employed by the Topeka Fire Department, Station #2 then later as a Fire Inspector; also Thompson Hardware, Wilcox Trailer Sales and Swecker/Knipp.
He married Jane A. Nelson in 1951. She passed away in 2003. Frank was a long time member of the Topeka Jazz Workshop.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, mother and step-father Juanita and Elburn Beal. He is survived by two sisters; Betty (Ross) Heitzmann, Burnsville, MN and Jean (Bill) Fitzgibbons, Topeka; sisters-in-Law, Kay (Charles) Nelson Corn, Topeka and Beth (Merle) Nelson Rider, Lakin, KS; and many nieces; nephews; and his friend/companion Loraine Boutwell, Gladstone, MO.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the NorthCare Hospice Group and to the Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their caring and thoughtful services to both Frank and his family.
Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 25, 2010 at Penwell Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka, KS. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
