Francis "Mick" Leblanc

Francis J. "Mick" LeBlanc, 83, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at his home in Topeka.

He was born November 27, 1926 at St. Marys, the son of the late William LeBlanc Sr. and Lucille Longtin LeBlanc. He grew up in the St. Marys community and served in the Merchant Marines during WWII from 1945-1947 and the United States Army from 1948 until 1952.

Mick worked for United Telephone Company and had lived in Topeka, Wamego, Lawrence and Newton, IA, before he moved to Jefferson City, MO, where he worked for the state of Missouri Public Service Commission until retiring in 1988. He moved to Topeka in 2000. Mr. LeBlanc was a salesman for Executive Promotions for several years. He was a member of Mother Teresa Catholic Church in Topeka. He also was a member of the American Legion and the Cosmopolitan Club. Mick was a friend of Bill W for 37 years.

He was united in marriage to Barbara Haller on September 4, 1954. She preceded him in death on August 4, 1996. Mr. LeBlanc was also preceded in death by a sister Lila Frommelt.

Survivors include a son, Bruce LeBlanc, Topeka; four daughters, Martha (Ron) Harris, Jefferson City, MO, Mary Pace, in Arkansas, Denise (Allen) Gradel, Freeburg, MO and Diane (Jim) Hatcher Jefferson City, MO; two brothers, William "Bill" LeBlanc Jr. St. Marys and Richard Leblanc, Topeka; four sisters, Agnes Montgomery and Theresa Simons, both of Topeka Reva Wheeler, in Colorado and Rita Jones, in Maryland; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren

There will be a Memorial Tribute from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Penwell Gabel South West Chapel 3700 SW Wanamaker, Topeka. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Mr. LeBlanc will lie in state from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday, August 27, 2010 at the church where there will be a Prayer Vigil at 7:00 P.M. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys.
