Francis Logan Moran

Francis Logan Moran, 89, of Topeka, passed away October 20, 2018. He was born May 11, 1929 in Dover, Kansas to Maurice and Esther (Logan) Moran, one of five children.
He graduated from Dover Rural High School in 1947. He worked on the family farm for a year and was briefly employed at John Morrell Packing Plant. He then went to work at Coolidge Implement in Burlington, Kansas prior to his employment with Goodyear Tire Co. He then enlisted in the US Air Force in October of 1950.
During his 21 year career in the Air Force he attained the rank of Master Sergeant and was stationed overseas in England, Taiwan, Germany and Viet Nam. He also served at Forbes AFB,Whiteman AFB, Fairchild AFB and Nellis AFB stateside. While stationed in England, he met the love of his life Eileen Chadbund. They were married April 10, 1954 in Twyford, England.
Francis retired from the Air Force in 1971 and returned to Topeka. He was employed by Ed Marlings in the service department as a refrigerator and air conditioner repairman. In 1973 he went to work for the state of Kansas maintenance and repair division until his retirement in May of 1992.
He was a "jack of all trades." He could fix anything! He had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. He liked to watch K-State and KU sports and was an avid Chiefs fan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eileen of the home; two sons, Stephen F. (Kimberly Layden) Moran of Sanger, Texas and Colin A. (Lisa) Moran of Beebe, Arkansas; one daughter, Elaine M. (Mark) Boeselager of Topeka; twelve grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Zelda Wright of Topeka and Eva Riley of Dover; and one sister-in-law Naomi Moran.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents, his son Gary L. Moran on September 9, 2017 and his brothers Kenneth and Kyle Moran.
A graveside service will be held at 1PM on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Dover Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st Street, Topeka, KS 66604 or American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Rd. Topeka, KS 66604.
