Frank X. Adkins, 74, of Topeka, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022.
He was born June 4, 1947, in Walheim, Germany, the son of Johanna (Medele) Hickey. He received a Bachelor's Degree from Heidelberg University, Tiffin, Ohio and his BSN from Washburn University in Topeka. He served in the U.S. Air Force, posted at Forbes Air Base in Topeka.
Frank was a Registered Nurse for Menningers Hospital, Topeka Women's Prison, until retiring.
Frank married MaryEllen McBride on March 9, 1985 in Topeka, Kansas. She survives in Topeka, as does his dog Milo. Other surviving family members include his loving sister-in-law, Marla, brother-in-law Dennis, nieces Sloane and Katie, and nephews Graham and Dillon.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Johanna Hickey, step-Father, Homer Hickey, his sister, Terri Duncan, his beloved dog, Amos, as well as his in-laws, Ralph and Marjorie McBride.
Frank will be remembered for his sense of humor and love of animals.
Honoring his request, cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be held at a later date. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel is assisting the family.
