Frank F. Hoge of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the age of 91. Frank loved to stay involved and be challenged. After retiring as Director of the Kansas State Vocational Rehabilitation Unit in Topeka, Frank joined the Kaw Valley Wood Carvers. He enjoyed carving and participated with the club in contributing to community projects such as the Carousel in the Park and Festival of Trees. He attended many club events showing his latest creations.
Frank was also very passionate about the Chesney Park Neighborhood Improvement Association where he volunteered tirelessly for many years. He went before the City Council many times to lobby for cleaning up neighborhoods in central Topeka and was eager to "share" his opinion of what needed to be done for the neighborhood. In 2007, he was an active supporter for the Great Wall of Topeka Mural. Mural panels are painted each spring and summer. Most recently he worked Saturdays with other NIA members at the dump site to provide a place where neighbors could bring debris/yard waste to help keep the neighborhood clean. He was always thinking of ways to improve the neighborhood.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Solomon and Helen Hoge. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Delores of Topeka; daughter Kathy (Gary) Jones of Topeka, son Ken (Susan) Hoge, of Tecumseh; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and his sister Judy Jahn of Leavenworth.
At Frank's request no services will be held. The family is grateful for condolences but in lieu of flowers, request donations be made to the Mural Wall Maintenance Fund, Chesney Park NIA, PO Box 4753,Topeka KS 66604.
