Fred A. Bland

Fred A. Bland, 75, of Tecumseh, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. He was born July 26, 1949 in Childress, Texas, the son of Glenn and Blanche (Wyatt) Bland.

Fred graduated from Shawnee Heights High School and attended Washburn University. He was a Navy Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. After his discharge, he was employed by Orkin Pest Control and later Hills Pet Nutrition for 38 years before retiring in 2015.

Fred married Theresa A. Welch on September 28. 1979 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include children, Jaime Farley, Jeremiah (Jenny) Bland, five grandchildren, Olivia, Jadyn, Riley, Brooke and Ellaina, and his sister, Rexeena Evans.

Fred was preceded in death by his sisters, Carolyn and Georgia.

Fred will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Cremation will follow the service and private inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the University of Kansas Cancer Center, 11300 Corporate Ave, Suite 240, MS 9241, Lenexa, Kansas 66219.
