Fredrick F. Gleissner, 82, passed away Monday, April 3, 2006 in Topeka. He was born March 5, 1924 in Olmitz, the son of Frank and Josephine Haberman-Gleissner. He grew up in Olmitz, graduated from Otis High School in Otis, and attended Fort Hays State College before serving in both the Merchant Marines and the Army.
Fredrick married his wife Loretta in 1949 at Great Bend. They moved to Topeka, where Fredrick was a power plant operator for Western Resource where he retired in 1986.
He was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church, and enjoyed working around his home. Fredrick was preceded in death by a son Carl in 1987.
Surviving is his wife, Loretta of the home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, April 6, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Topeka. Mr. Gleissner will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 6:30, and the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. that evening.
