Gail Mary Katherine Kaiser-Hartness was born on December 21, 1953 to Rose Mary and Urban Kaiser. She was raised in Evansville, Illinois with 3 younger siblings, Cathy (Kaiser) Williams, Augusta, MO, Jerry Kaiser, Troy, MO and Margie (Kaiser) Zimmerman, Cheney, WA. She graduated from Southern Illinois University–Carbondale with an Accounting degree.
She settled in Topeka, KS and was hired by 501 school district and began teaching at Topeka High School in 1975 and later Jardine and French Middle Schools. She attended night classes at Kansas State University and received two Master's Degrees in teaching and counseling. In 1995, she moved to Topeka West High School where she became director of guidance and counseling.
Gail met Louis in 1987 and they were married in 1993. She was overwhelmingly dedicated to her students in every way. She served on the Board of Advisors for the Educational Credit Union for many years and worked for 16 years at JC Penney part-time.
She will be missed by many for her dedicated, loving, caring ways.

She is survived by her mother, siblings, husband, Louis, stepson, Louis Hartness II and two grandsons Nathan and Mason Hartness.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 am, Monday, January 25, 2016 at Mater Dei Assumption Catholic Church, 204 SW 8th Avenue, Topeka. Entombment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka.
A rosary will be prayed at 3 pm on Sunday with visitation to follow until 6 pm at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka.
