Galen W. Rapp, 82, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017.
He was born August 23, 1935, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Walter and Olive (Pieplow) Rapp. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture from Kansas State University.
Galen was employed in agriculture his entire life. The last part of his career he worked for the USDA in Washington, D.C., where he worked with cooperatives in both the United States and overseas. In his retirement, he enjoyed serving others through the AARP income tax assistance program and other volunteer programs.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Topeka. At church, he enjoyed Wesley Weds Sunday School, Disciple Bible Study, and ushering.
Galen had a passion as a life-long learner. He loved to read, attend seminars, and was always seeking ways to expand his mind.
Galen married Eleanor Misak on August 12, 1956, in Bluff City, Kansas. She preceded him in death on November 18, 2016.
Survivors include children, Curtis (Carla), Loren (Amy), and Gayla Rapp; and grandchildren, Jordan, Taylor, and Collin Rapp.
A memorial ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, 600 SW Topeka Boulevard, Topeka, Kansas 66603, with a reception to follow at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
