Garry W. Anderson, 66, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022. He was born September 23, 1956 in Axtell, Kansas, the son of Margaret Joan Burke.
Garry graduated from Jeff West High School and attended Cowley Community College and Washburn University. He was a Marine Corps Veteran during the Vietnam War. Through the years Garry had several different employers, mainly YCAT and a correctional officer for the state of Kansas. Garry retired from the state of Kansas in 2007. He also owned Garry's Bar and Grill.
Garry married Rebecca Ann Lindeman in 1976. They later divorced.
Survivors include children; Staci (Steve) Allison of Topeka, Joe (Jessica) Anderson of Oskaloosa, Lee (Ashley) Anderson, grandchildren; Melissa, Kurtis, Hephaestion, Jaylon, Juniper, and his siblings; Kaiden Barraclough of Basehor, Melvin Hicks of Overbrook , Ronnie (Gloria) Hicks of Kansas City, Missouri, Jim (Katie) Hicks of Berryton, Candy Lewis of Carbondale, Greg (Gretchen) Anderson of Lawrence, Marc Anderson of Montague, Massachusetts , and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Celebration of Garry's Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022 at the American Legion Post 400, 3029 NW US Hwy. 24, Topeka, Kansas 66618. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers and contributions spend extra time with your loved ones, help someone in need (not the people on the street corner with signs), buy someone a drink, or something else to show love and kindness just like he would do.
