Garry Gerald Moore passed away Wednesday October 2nd at Plaza West Nursing Home in Topeka, KS.
Garry was born in Denver, Colorado on April 24th, 1940. Although Garry had a rough start in life, he was adopted and loved by Hoyt and Edna Moore in Rocky Ford, Colorado. His father taught him the ins and outs of tires and the tire business. With this knowledge, Garry worked for several tire companies throughout Colorado and eventually opened his own business “Moore Tire Service” in Fort Collins, Colorado with his longtime friend and partner Jerry Ertle. Later he drove for his son’s trucking company, Savannah Transport INC, for a few years. Moving to Kanarado, KS where he started a mobile tire service business. Garry aided local farmers and helped numerous stranded motorists along Interstate 70 in western Kansas and eastern Colorado. Changing a tire on a cold winter’s night in western Kansas at the age of 76, he decided he had enough and was ready for retirement. They made the decision to move close to family in Topeka Kansas.
Garry was an exceptional tire man who knew the meaning of hard work and instilled that trait in all of his children. His knowledge and helping hands will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Helen Ruth Dilts; children, Christine (Chuck) Busch, Dawn Moore, Hoyt (Laurie) Moore, Misty Miller and Diana (Justin) Vasquez; sisters, Edna Reeh and Colleen Perry, along with 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to Helping hands Human Society 5720 SW 21st St, Topeka, KS 66604.
