Garold "Gary" W. Livingston, 67, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Midland Hospice House after a hard struggle with COPD and emphysema.
He was born June 6, 1946, in Phoenix, Arizona, the son of Gerald and Lila (Wanersten) Livingston. After the untimely death of his mother, he was raised from an early age by his grandmother, May Grey. He graduated from Highland Park High School.
Garold was employed by Davis Sports Cycle in Topeka nearly 30 years and most recently he worked for Frito-Lay, retiring in 2007.
He loved his family and was always there as a constant bedrock of support. One of his greatest joys in life was his love of motorcycles, model planes, trains, and automobiles; he loved to tinker with anything mechanical. He enjoyed listening to classic rock and he loved to dance.
He is survived by his lifelong-partner, Ruby Armstrong, one son, Eric (Lacey) Livingston of Topeka and one daughter, Angelia (Donald) Logsdon of Carbondale; three half-sisters and one half brother, Gloria Livingston O'Dell, Danny Livingston, Gayle Peterson, and Whitney Livingston (Hudson); four grandsons, Nicholas, Elijah, Donovan, and Lyle; seven granddaughters, Amber, Erica, Kelly, Heather, Larissa, Alexandria, and Madeline; one great-granddaughter, Ava, and one niece, Dana O'Dell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald James (Lila L.) Livingston
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life gathering will take place on Tuesday, November 26 from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Dove Cremation, 4020 SW 6th Ave. in Topeka. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery.
