Gayle Robert Davis, 80, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at the Colmery O'Neil VA Medical Center. He was born on May 12, 1926 in Havensville, the son of James H. and Mattie M. Bricka Davis. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. He moved to Topeka in 1948. He was employed by the Colmery O'Neil VA Medical Center for 33 years before retiring in 1981. He was a charter member and served as an elder and financial secretary of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. Gayle married Elizabeth M. Venneberg on November 19, 1948 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Dan C. Davis and wife, Mary Jo of Winchester, one daughter, JoAnn Grindler of Webster Groves, MO, two granddaughters, Brenda J. Pollom, Amanda B. and husband, Eric Stone and two great-grandchildren, Adia K. and Ashton Davis Stone and two brothers, Daryl H. Davis and Jerry D. Davis both of Topeka. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Bucks Grove United Methodist Church fifteen miles west of Holton on Hwy. 16. Inurnment will follow in Bucks Grove Cemetery.
