Gena K. Klise, 47, of Berryton, died Saturday, January 21, 2012. She was born July 24, 1964 in Topeka, the daughter of Lawrence and Sharon Blanden Lantis. She graduated from Topeka West High School and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Wichita State University.
Gena was employed as a Teacher by USD 501. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and the Kansas Capital Quilter's Guild. Gena was passionate helping others, which included being a foster parent.
Gena married Douglas E. Klise on December 14, 1985 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include their children, Stephanie, Grant, Carter and Autumn, her parents, Lawrence and Sharon Lantis, her maternal grandmother, Elenora Blanden and her sister, Lori Tripp, all of Topeka.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Central Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Gena will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given the Kansas Children's Service League, 3545 SW 5th St., Topeka, KS 66606.
