Gene "Larry" Jones, 81, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at a Kansas City, Kansas hospital. He was born April 25, 1935 in Tennessee, the son of Charles and Edith (White) Jones.
Larry was an Air Force Veteran and served during the Vietnam War. His career spanned several years before retiring on December 31,1982 as a Lt. Colonel.
Larry married Pamela Hatheway in 1970. He is survived by his wife Pamela and his son Zachary, both of Topeka. He is also survived by his sister Ann Jonak and her husband Dick of Gleason TN, sister-in-law Tamara Hatheway, brother -in -law Jim Hatheway and his wife Peggy, cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Larry loved serving his country and received numerous accommodations for his service. A memorial service will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.
The family requests no flowers or donations, but thanks all their family, friends and neighbors from Texas to Topeka for their kindness, support, thoughts and prayers.
