Gene L. Trueblood, 70, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at a Topeka hospital. He was born January 22, 1942 in White City, KS, the son of Martin and Dorothy L. McCulle Trueblood. He attended White City Grade School and graduated from Highland Park High School. He was a Navy veteran of Vietnam where he was stationed in Guam as a Navy Medic. Gene earned a Purple Heart during his service time.
Gene was a member of Laffayette, Colorado VFW Post No. 1771 where he served as past commander. He was employed by EG&G LLC. of Rocky Flats, CO for 23 years before retiring. He also served as a volunteer firefighter in Laffayette for 10 years.
Gene married Rita E. Stewart on March 1, 1987 in Laffayette, CO. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Martin A. Trueblood of Denver, Colorado, one sister, Joann Benham of Topeka and two nieces, Janese Boosinger and Jolene Benham.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside inurnment services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Roxbury Cemetery, Roxbury, KS. Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel is assisting the family.
