George Lloyd Betcher, 94, of Topeka, died Saturday, September 25, 2004 at a local hospice house.
He was born on a farm southeast of Mayetta, the son of Clarence Orel and Susan Jane Lloyd Betcher.
After high school, he worked for the Harvey Jones Garage and the Mayetta Telephone Co., before moving to Topeka in 1942. He worked for John Morell Co.,and Capital City Lumber before going to work for the Santa Fe Railroad. He retired after twenty two and a half years of employment.
He was a member of the Highland Park Christian Church.
He married Lillian Marie Jones on December 24, 1936 in Holton,KS . She preceded him in death on August 28, 1996.
Other survivors include: a daughter, DeAnn Boggs and her husband Robert of Topeka, granddaughter,Kimberly Pfannenstiel and her husband Richard of Topeka; a grandson David Boggs and his wife Erica of Topeka and two great grandchildren.
Mr. Betcher will lie in state after 3:00 p.m., Monday September 27,2004 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will recieve friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 28, 2004 with burial to follow in Brick Cemetery near Holton, KS.
