George C. Hedstrom, 100, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015.
He was born February 11, 1915, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Karl and Ester (Nordquist) Hedstrom.
George was a 1933 graduate of Topeka High School and 1936 graduate of Stricklers Business College. He served in the United States Army during WWII, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. George returned to Topeka where he was registrar for the School of Psychiatry at Menninger Foundation for 37 years and was a member of First Southern Baptist Church.
George married Gertrude "Jeanne" Langdon in May of 1942. She preceded him in death in November 1989. He then married Juanita Weston in September of 1990, who preceded him in death in February of 2013.
Survivors include sons, Erik (Linda) Hedstrom and David (Nancy) Hedstrom; daughter, Julie (Marvin) Davis; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka, Kansas 66610, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice or Topeka Bible Church Missions.
