George C. Walton, Sr., 71, of Topeka, passed away, Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Midland Hospice House, Topeka.
He was born January 6, 1936 in Birmingham, Alabama the son of Luther and Ethel Tolbert Walton. Mr. Walton was an Army Veteran and resided in Topeka over 50 years.
George worked for Langley Recycling 34 years. He was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church.
George married June L. Jackson. She preceded him in death in 1985. George married Dorise A. Gilbert. They were divorced.
Survivors include his sister, Alice M. Hatcher, Birmingham, AL, two sons, George C. Walton, Jr. (Stephanie), Topeka; Raynard Walton, a daughter, Karen D. McGee, Kansas City, MO, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, John, Joe, Willie and Lester.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Antioch Life Center, 1921 SE Indiana on March 3 at 1:00 p.m. Private inurnment will take place in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
