George D. Freiberger

George "Geo" D. Freiberger, 88 of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, Oct 12, 2011. He was born on December 9, 1922 in Texarkana, Arkansas to George and Nannie Faye (Pickitt) Freiberger.
Geo served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He graduated from Texas A & M in 1951 with a degree in electrical engineering and was employed by IBM as a customer engineer for 29 years. On April 1, 1945, he married his childhood sweetheart Lillie Norene Alexander. She preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 2004. He found love again at Plaza West where he married Frances Close Oct. 28, 2007 who also preceded him in death in 2008.
He is survived by his son, Doug Freiberger of Dallas, TX; daughter, June Ann Ferris of Roundrock, TX; brother, Norman Freiberger of Mount Vernon, Maine; grandson, Daniel Freiberger of Frisco, TX; granddaughter, Mary K. Freiberger of Austin, TX; two great-grandsons; and many members of Frances' family.
Graveside funeral services will be held at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Ft. Riley, 5181 Wildcat Creek Rd. Manhattan, Kansas on October 17, 2011at 10:00AM with military honors. A visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 16 at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service from 2:00-4:00PM.
