Topeka

George Peter Gisi, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 5, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas, at the age of 86. Born on March 20, 1938, in Hillsview, South Dakota, George led a life characterized by dedication, resilience, and a passion for connecting with others. George graduated from Ipswich High School and went on to serve in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1964 as an Airplane Mechanic, stationed at Forbes Field in Topeka, Kansas. His time in the military exposed him to a variety of experiences and travels that greatly enriched his life. For over 25 years, he was the proud owner and operator of Gisi Brothers VW Repair. George loved meeting new people and took great pride in tackling challenging repairs that others could not handle, earning a reputation within the community for his skills and expertise. His general demeanor was one of reserve, often sharing a good story filled with a touch of sarcasm, reflecting his warm personality. George valued family and faith greatly. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and was an active member of his church community. His interests included fishing, where he was known as a pro at untangling lines, puzzles, card games, and coin collecting. He found joy in simple pleasures, such as enjoying pastries and stopping for lunch at The PAD. Married for 64 years to his loving wife, Marjorie Gisi, he leaves behind a vast and loving family: daughters Patricia (Ron) Corbin, Janet (Daryl) Moon, Michelle (JD Pritchard) Gisi, and Jennifer (Jason) Frickey; sons David (Tamara) Gisi, Jonathon Gisi, Daniel Gisi, Jason Gisi, and Geordan Gisi; sister Teresa (Joseph) Malsam; brother Leroy Gisi; 24 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. His legacy continues through them, enriched by countless memories and experiences shared together. George was preceded in death by his parents, Peter James Gisi and Veronica Helene Gisi; daughter Penney Gisi; and brother Robert (Sharon) Gisi. A memorial service will be held on February 21, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM at the Family of God Church, located at 1231 NW Eugene St, Topeka, KS 66608, followed by a graveside service at 12:45 AM.
