Georgia B. Vaughn

Georgia B. Vaughn, 84, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at a Topeka hospital. She was born on December 10, 1922 in War Eagle, Ark, the daughter of William Freemont and Pearl Mae Huckaby Haley She had resided in Topeka since 1958. She was employed by Cooks Castle for many years before retiring in 1999. Georgia married George M. Vaughn in 1941 in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death on December 24, 1976. She was also preceded in death by one son, James Vaughn in May of 1995, one grandson, Brett Vaughn in January of 1982, two brothers, William Carl Haley in 1961, Jessie "Buck" Haley in 1984 and one sister, Katie Jenkins in December of 2006. Survivors include one son, George M. Vaughn, Jr. and wife, Annette of Greeley, CO, three granddaughters, Meriah Presley, Wendy Vaughn and Hope Vaughn and two great-granddaughters, Chelsea and Taylee, and one sister, Donnie Lawson of Bossier City, LA. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Fort Riley Post Cemetery. Burial will follow. Georgia will lie in state from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
