Georgia A. Wagers

Georgia Ann Wagers, 80, of Topeka, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018.

She was born April 24, 1938, in Swanton NE, the daughter of Edward L. and Lillian H. (Beck) Bicek. She was a graduate of Swanton High School.

Georgia completed her teaching degree from Doane College in Crete, NE and taught in a one room school house north of Swanton, NE. She received her RN in 1972 from Topeka Kansas Stormont Vail School of Nursing and retired from the Shawnee County Health Department after working many years as a home health nurse.

She met the love of her life, Max R. Wagers, when he fell down the stairs at JC Penney at her feet. They married on March 9, 1958 in Grand Island, NE. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2018.

Survivors include two sons, Chris (Kris) Wagers, Topeka and Curtis (Connie) Wagers of Paxico, KS; five grandchildren, Keith Wagers and Kelsey (Nic) Papps, Zachary (Lindsey) Wagers, Ashley Wagers and Shane (Gina) Wagers; eight great-grandchildren, Konner, Tagen, Oliver, Paxton, Sawyer, Matthew, Finn and Eleanor.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She was a member of Countryside United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 258, Swanton, NE. Georgia enjoyed cooking and recipe collecting. She especially liked to spend time with her family.

Honoring Georgia's request, cremation is planned. A graveside memorial ceremony will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka on August 17, 2018 at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Cir. Topeka, KS 66606.
