Gerald Lee Bliss

Gerald L. "Jerry" Bliss, 81, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022.
He was born March 2, 1941, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Daryl and Virginia (Loomis) Bliss.
Jerry graduated from Topeka High School in 1959.
Jerry worked as a Computer Operator for Flemings for 20 years, retiring in 2006 from the State of Kansas.
Mr. Bliss was a member of the First Congregational Church, of Topeka. He also volunteered for the Auburn Fire Department as a Firefighter for 30 years.
Jerry married Margo E. Lyons on June 26, 1971 in Topeka, Kansas.
Survivors include his wife, Margo Bliss of the home; sons, Brian (Meredith) of Topeka, Brad (Alex) Bliss of Colleyville, TX and Brett Bliss of Topeka; grandchildren, Zach Bliss and Emma Bliss and brother, Robert Bliss.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald Bliss and Ronald Bliss and sister, Mary Sue Bliss.
Jerry enjoyed coaching his sons little league ball team, traveling, Nascar racing and being active as a Safety Worker at Heartland Park and NHRA.
Honoring Jerry's request, cremation is planned. A Celebration of Jerry's Life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 9, 2023 at Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, Kansas 66610. The family will greet friends at 10:00 am.
Inurnment of Jerry's cremated remains will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Oskaloosa, Kansas at 2:00 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st St., Topeka, Kansas 66604 or to Heart of American Chapter of Alzheimer's Association, 3846 W 75th St., Prairie Village, Kansas 66208.
