Gerald Von Pertz Sr.

Gerald Francis Von Pertz, Sr., 65, of Topeka, died May 22, 2008. He was born in Kansas City, KS on July 4, 1942 the son of Clyde Columbus and Helen Irene (Gray) Von Pertz. He was a taxi cab driver for over 40 years and also worked as an Emergency Medical Technician for Cross Ambulance Service. Gerald enjoyed bowling.

He married Donna L. Brandon on May 8, 1987 in Topeka. She survives. He is also survived by four sons: Gerald F. Von Pertz Jr., Topeka, James L. Flynn, Sandstone, MN, Gerald W. Flynn, Carbondale, Dale Edward Flynn, Topeka; seven daughters: Jamie Lynn Von Pertz, Topeka, Dian Lea Miller, Topeka, Laura Leigh Miller, Topeka, Sherian Ann Ackley, Arnold, MO, Linda Marie Avalos, Topeka, Marie Pauline Brumley, Topeka, Jeanine L. Cherry, Topeka; a brother, Kenneth Earl Von Pertz, Topeka; 40 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Darlene Von Pertz, and a brother, Carl Von Pertz.

Gerald will lie in state at Newcomer Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 27, from 2 - 5 pm. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, May 28. Interment will follow at Topeka Cemetery.
