Gertrude Blackburn, 92, Dyersburg, Tennessee, passed away Monday, October 29, 2007 at the Dyersburg Manor Nursing Center.
She was born June 23, 1915 in Osage County, Kansas, the daughter of Thomas and Jane (Dunn) Michaels.
Gertrude retired from J.C. Penney as a sales clerk. She was a member of West Dyersburg Church of Christ.
She married Edward Blackburn, he preceded her in death. Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Dasher (Karl) of Tecumseh; Jean Brewer (Larry) of Dyersburg, TN; and Betty Kristinat of Topeka, two sisters, Dorothy Abend of Topeka; Lorraine Simon, Mankato, KS; and a brother, Fred Michaels (Lucille) of Junction City; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Billy Brewer and sister, Wilma Cranwell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 2, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Mrs. Blackburn will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday with visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
