Gertrude M. Leppla, 94, of Topeka, formerly of Manhattan,Kansas, passed away June 15, 2014 at her home. She was born June 12, 1920 at Manhattan to Henry and Gertrude (Whitebread) Allen.
She graduated from Manhattan High School and attended business school. She married Truman Leppla on May 6, 1945 at Ft. Riley where he was serving in the US Army. He preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1998. She was employed by the federal government at Ft. Riley and retired in 1979. Following her retirement she worked as the secretary at College Ave. Methodist Church in Manhattan.
She volunteered for numerous organizations and events. She knitted and did various kinds of handwork. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.
Gertrude is survived by her son, James and his wife Wanda of Topeka. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Neva, and her nephew Allen Ward.
