Gladys Bernice Pieplow
Gladys Bernice Pieplow, 104, Topeka, formerly of Hutchinson, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Aldersgate Village.
Gladys was born February 5, 1906 near Arlington, the daughter of Mike and Cora (Dickerson) Burnett. She graduated from Plevna High School in 1925.
She was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hutchinson and a local nursing home. She had been a member of First United Methodist Church in Hutchinson. She moved to Topeka in 1978 to be closer to her daughter.
Gladys married Russell F. Pieplow in Plevna in 1927. He died January 23, 1973.
Survivors include daughter, Donna (Wendell) Nusser, Topeka; son, Gene (Joyce) Pieplow, Sacramento, CA; 7 grandchildren, including Kay (Robb) McDowell, Topeka and Greg (Vicki) Nusser, Plantation, FL; 5 great grandchildren, including Robbie McDowell and Kristi (Jerry) Cavitte, Topeka; and 1 great-great grandson, Miles Cavitte. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Pieplow.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery in Hutchinson. Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Good Samaritan Fund @ Aldersgate Village, 7220 SW Asbury Drive, Topeka, Kansas 66614 or Heart of America Hospice, 3715 SW 29th, Topeka, Kansas 66614.
