Glen D. Markley, 82, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at his home.
He was born September 29, 1929 in Stillwater, OK, the son of Oran C. and Thelma Coffman Markley. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1947. Glen was employed by Kansas Gas Service Company for 35 years before retiring. He was also employed by the Topeka Capital Journal as a newspaper carrier for 23 years. He was a member of East Side Baptist Church. Glen married Beulah I. Hunter on August 30, 1948 in Topeka. They were married for 62 years. She preceded him in death on December 30, 2010. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leighton and Floyd.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen G. (Suellen) Markley of Berryton, Kevin L. (Cindy) Markley of Wakarusa, four grandsons, Allen, Jason, Brent and Corey, five great-grandchildren, Dalton, Alayna, Hailey, Alissa and Caiden. Glen is also survived by his brother, Jay Markley of Topeka.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Glen will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
