Glen M. Niver, 86, Topeka, passed away January 30, 2008 at McCrite Plaza Retirement Community where he was cared for by a loving staff.
Glen was born October 15, 1921 in Gridley, the son of John M. and Edna L. Niver. He graduated from Burlington High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was employed as a conductor for Santa Fe Railroad in Chanute for 39 years, retiring in 1983. He also lived in Erie, Kansas and later Norman, Oklahoma.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles, horse back riding, hunting, and socializing.
He was member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Elks club, Masons and Shriners all in Chanute.
Glen married Aloha Roberts on May 4, 1944. She died October 2004. Survivors include sons, Russ Niver and wife, Linda, Topeka; Dennis Niver and wife, Betty, Broken Arrow, OK; daughter, Deardi Wabaunsee and husband, Gary, Choctaw, OK; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a brother, Rex Niver and wife, Jean, Wichita, KS. He was preceded in death by a grandson, David Niver.
Private family services will be held.
