Glenn Ray Eckhart

March 14, 1958 — November 10, 2012

Glenn R. Eckhart, 54, of Wakarusa, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Midland Hospice Care. He was born March 14, 1958 in Butler, MO, the son of Adrian "Eck" and Juanita (Andrews) Eckhart.

Glenn was raised in Wakarusa and graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1976. He married Kimberly Byrd in 1988. They later divorced. Glenn was an electrician for BNSF since 1977. He was a member of the IBEW Local # 959, and he served as local chairman, president and vice-president. Glenn enjoyed dirt bike racing and restoration and gun collecting.

Glenn is survived by Kimberly Eckhart, two sons, Alex A. Eckhart and Ethan J. Eckhart of Topeka; brother, Raymond Mathern of Texas; niece, Marcie Eckhart-Charay of Topeka. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Greg Eckhart and Gene Mathern.

A celebration of life service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the Wakarusa Presbyterian Church, 10135 SW Jordan Rd, Wakarusa, KS 66546. Interment will follow at the Shawnee Center Cemetery, Wakarusa. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Eckhart Memorial Fund, in care of Kansas BCBS Credit Union for Children's education fund.
