Glenwood G. Yancey, Jr., 84, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at a Topeka hospital. He was born August 26, 1933 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Glenwood G. and Irene (Brown) Yancey, Sr.
Glen earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Kansas. He was employed as an Administrator for the State of Kansas for over 40 years. After retiring, he served as a licensed local pastor for United Methodist Churches in Pomona, Vassar and Ozawkie. Glen also served as the Executive Director for the Topeka Breakthrough House. He was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church.
Glen married Gayle M. Winston on September 1, 1956 in Lawrence, Kansas. She preceded him in death on November 24, 2017.
Survivors include their children, Glenwood G. Yancey, III of Topeka, Michael W. (Cindy) Yancey of Spring Hill, Kansas, Patrick K. (Tamra) Yancey of Topeka, six grandchildren, Kevin (Hanna), Sean (Kelli), Benjamin (Misty), Rachel (Tyler), Kaci, Kelli (Ben) and four great-grandchildren, Karlie, Davian, Ada and Ember.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Highland Park United Methodist Church where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 SE Michigan Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66605.
