Goey "Bob" F. Mar, 90, Topeka, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015.
Bob was born September 9, 1924 in Canton, China, the son of Lee and Quan Mar. He moved to the United States at the age of 17.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He owned and operated the China Clipper in Junction City, Barbie's Café in Salina, Mars Café in Manhattan, Holiday Inn Restaurant in Great Bend and Mars Restaurant in Topeka, retiring in 1986.
Bob married Shan Leong on March 2, 1947 in Tai Shan, China. She survives. Other survivors include their children, Jeannie (Rito) Saenz, John Mar, Donna (Kenny) Swart, all of Topeka; grandchildren, Tanya Laster, Shan Leeper, Rito Saenz, Kenny Swart; 8 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jimmie Mar and Jin Mar.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Entombment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the funeral home.
