Grace "Evelyn" (Kathrens) Schultz-Dawson of Topeka, Kansas passed away Dec. 20, 2011. She was born in a rural area near Holton, Kansas on April 7, 1922 to Walter Franklin and Helen Margaret (Glenn) Kathrens. She married Howard August Schultz on January 2, 1941 in Wauseon, Ohio. They were blessed with five children and lived in various states in regards to his military service and employment with General Electric. When Howard retired, they bought a farm near Whiting, Kansas. He died March 13, 1983 and Evelyn remained on the farm until 2001.
She married George Dawson on March 3, 2001 at Larkinburg, Kansas and lived in Topeka. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Colly Creek Ward, Topeka, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Betty Sue, son David, and four sisters.
She enjoyed raising her family, gardening, canning, working outside, reading and playing golf. She is survived by her husband George; two sons, Jim (Carolyn) of Ft. Wayne, IN and Fred (Peggy) of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Mary Anne (Ernest) Ortiz of Houston, TX; Daughter-in-law, Brenda Harvey, Jonesboro, AR; eighteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; five brothers; and three sisters.
Memorial services are pending. Inurnment will be at a later date in Larkinburg Cemetery.
