Grace Weeks, 88, Topeka, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at Stormont Vail Regional Medical Center.
Grace was born December 8, 1923 in Topeka, the daughter of Edwin and Evonia Heigert West. She graduated from Topeka High School and completed a course in Executive Development at Washington University.
She was a real estate agent for Dale Buchanan Agency and served as Secretary of the Women's Council of the Topeka Board of Realtors. She was appointed to the Citizens Advisory Board of the City of Topeka and served from 1967-1969. She was an executive with the Better Business Bureau of Northeast Kansas from its inception in 1968 until she retired in 1985. She was active in Republican politics and worked in the Kansas Senate. After retirement, she worked as a property manager for the Department of Veterans Affairs.
She was a member of Countryside United Methodist Church, and Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Grace loved gardening, jazz, caring for her dogs, and above all was devoted to her family.
Grace married Glen W. Weeks on August 15, 1948 in Wamego. He died September 21, 1999. Grace is survived by her beloved children Steve Weeks, Cincinnati, OH; Dave (Sandy) Weeks, McMinnville, OR; Linette (Terry) Monson, Topeka; grandchildren Kirstin (Eric Spletzer) Weeks, Nicholas (Crystal) Weeks, Brent Weeks, Natalie Monson, James Monson; and great-grandchildren Hana Jane Grace Spletzer and Austin, Jack & Brooklynn Weeks. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Lillian Duer.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 14, 2012 at Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel. Inurnment will be in the Mount Hope Mausoleum.
