Pastor Greg A. Varney, 61, Topeka, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017.
Greg was born August 23, 1955, in Beech Grove, IN, to his loving parents Robert and Beverly (Weber) Varney. He graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1973, and from Rhema Bible Training Center in Broken Arrow, OK, in 1980.
He was the Pastor at Light of the World Christian Center for over 31 years.
He enjoyed riding his Harley, but most of all spending time with his family.
Greg married Debbie Wenger on January 3, 1976. She survives along with their six children: Jake Varney (Angie), Jennifer Martinez (Rick), Katie Fowler (Dave), Anna Rangel (Marcus), Janelle Richardson (Cody) and Tiffany Wingler (Austin); 15 grandchildren; and brothers, Steve and Bill Varney. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Light of the World Christian Center. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road.
