Harland F. Kistler Jr. died October 17, 2020, surrounded by family. He was 77 years old.
Born in South Dakota to Harland F. Kistler Sr. and Elizabeth Kistler, Harland was the oldest of seven children. After high school, Harland enlisted in the Navy and served his country with pride, fighting in the Vietnam War. Afte, he attended and graduated from National College of Business in Rapid City with a degree in accounting that allowed him to work almost anywhere he went.
In the early 1970s, while living in Texas, he married and had two children, Art and Cindy, both of whom still live in Texas with their families.
In 1995, Harland met and married Martha Kistler. After several moves, they finally landed at their forever home in Topeka, Kansas.
Although he had many jobs and homes, he remained grounded in who he was: a good father and husband, a proud American and devoted Christian.
Harland was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret and his father. He leaves behind his mother; sister Helen; his brothers Harv, Hugh, Herb, Harry and Scott; wife of 25 years Martha; his two children Arthur Kistler and Cindy Malone; and his grandchildren Trevor Kistler, Kyle Malone and Samantha Malone. He also loved and left behind two step-children; several step-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Harland will be missed by the friends he made along the way and the family that loved him through his journeys.
Memorial services have been cancelled as of 11/25/2020.
