Harlene Hungerford, 76 of Topeka, passed away on December 26th at St. Francis Hospital.
She was born in Raymond, KS on July 8, 1936 to Bryan and Janey Chance. She was a lifelong Kansan, residing in Topeka for the majority of her life. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1991 after 32 years of service. She enjoyed her family, her dog Katie, quilting, volunteer work, games on the computer and reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim and step-daughter Jayme. She is survived by her sister Jewell Graf of Larned, daughters Shannon (John) Martinez of Hutchinson and Lisa (Aaron) Cook of Topeka, niece Kim (Richard) Bennett of Larned, and three step-daughters. She was a very special "Gram" to Nigel, Amanda, Bryan, Jordan & Ashley. She also had many great grandchildren.
It was Harlene's wish to be cremated. We will celebrate her with a service at Susanna Wesley United Methodist, 7433 SW 29th St on Saturday December 29th at 11:00am. The family will receive friends for an hour before the service. Private burial will be at a later date.
