Harold "Red" Weideman, 86, of Berryton, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at his home. He was born June 3, 1932 in Stevensville, Montana, the son of Henry and Katherine (Miller) Weideman.
Harold attended schools in Billings, Montana and enlisted in the Air Force when he was 17. He was an engine mechanic on KC97 tankers and C-47's. He was stationed in Japan during the Korean War and in Thailand during the Viet Nam War. His last assignment before retiring in 1971 was pad chief at a Titan II missile silo near Wichita.
Harold married Shirley Witte on August 28, 1960 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Topeka. Their son, David was born at Forbes AFB Hospital and their son, Philip was born in Tucson, AZ. All survive. Also surviving are two grandsons, William and Jacob and one great-grandson, Harvey Harold and one brother, Donald Weideman.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Reinhold, Raymond and Robert and his sisters, Betty and Dorothy.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2018 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Inurnment services will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery southeast of Topeka.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church, 901 SW Fillmore St., Topeka, Kansas 66606 in support of the Russian Mission.
