Harriet F. Whightsil, 93, of Topeka, died Monday April 6, 2015. She was born July 6, 1921 in LaHarpe, Kansas to Lutie Livingston.
Harriet was a loving, dedicated and generous wife, mother and grandma. She graduated from Garnett High School in 1939 and attended Wichita Business School. On January 1, 1946 she married John Whightsil in Garnett. Throughout the years, Harriet worked for AAA, The Kansas Children's Service League and worked alongside her husband for American Mutual Life. Harriet also dedicated her time to those less fortunate by volunteering for Door step and Let's Help. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Harriet loved to work in her garden, play bridge and try her luck at the casino.
Harriet is survived by her two children Donna Waltzer and Van Whightsil; her son-in-law Richard Waltzer; two grandchildren: Stacey Waltzer Orentlicher and David Waltzer; three great-grandchildren: Eric, Colin and Allyson. She was preceded in death by her husband John and her grandson John Paul Whightsil.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
