Harry E. Peoples, 72, Topeka, Kansas passed away Monday, September 7, 2015.
Harry was born December 26, 1942 in Curwensville, PA, the son of Harry E. Peoples and Hazel Nadine (Turner) Peoples Hoover. He graduated from Curwensville High School in 1960.
He worked in the Coal mines before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force, where he served from 1960 to 1969.
He was employed by the City of Topeka as a Construction Inspector in the Engineering Department and later Supervisor in the Street Department, retiring in 2004. He also owned and operated a concrete business and had worked for Meirs Ready Mix.
He played guitar and sang with the Elmont Opry and the Kansas Prairie Pickers Association (KPPA). He also served on their board of directors. He wrote several songs, including "All American Boy" and "Lover's Waltz."
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing and singing Country and Blue Grass music, and also worked on model trains.
He married Donna Vawter on October 21, 2000. He was previously married to Merideth Miller. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Lelia Nadine Peoples Ross (Dave), Oliver Branch, MS, Jennifer Lynn Counts Froman (Robert), Topeka; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; father, William Hoover; brothers, William Peoples, Mickey Hoover; sister, Virginia Morris; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Peggy Stoy and Betty Norris.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2845 SE Minnesota. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
