Hayden Keith Wood, 98 , of Berryton, passed away on July 15, 2018, in Topeka.

Hayden was born in Lecompton, KS to John Richard Wood and Hulda Jane Deskin on October 4, 1919. He graduated from Lawrence High School. He married Helen Marie Sanger in 1938 and from this union three children were born. He married Olive Ann Mapes in 1997. He worked as a farmer, rancher, and rural mail carrier for the United State Postal Service. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army. He served as a State Soybean Commissioner for the State of Kansas. He was Secretary for the Wakarusa Watershed. He helped to form Rural Water District #3. He served as a board member for the Lawrence Coop. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #500. He enjoyed the outdoors, dancing, fishing, golf, RVing, hunting, and his family.

Hayden is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Helen; his half-siblings, James Kreider, Una Wood, and Elizabeth Truesdale; his sons, Stuart Wood and Steven Wood ; and his stepson, Asa Mapes.

Hayden is survived by his wife, Ann; his daughter, Holly (Danny) Smith; grandchlldren, Lisa (Clayton) Horvath, Jason (Kristi) Smith, Travis (Angela) Smith, Brandon Wood, and Ryan Wood; great-grandchildren, Mandy Horvath, Maverick Horvath, Tyson Smith, Kayden Smith, Jo Smith, Hayden Smith, Zack Wood, Marley Smith, and Hudson Smith; stepchildren, Della (Sam) Phillips, Donna Bevitt, Dean (Julie) Bevitt, and Dana (Galen) Schutter; and numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
