Hazel L. Miller, 88, of Topeka, passed away Friday, May 6 at a local hospital.
She was born December 11, 1916 near Stockton, Kansas, the daughter of Burton and Sophia Odle.
In her early working life, she was a school teacher, bank associate and retired as an office manager for the KN Energy Co., Inc. in Hill City, Kansas. After retirment, she lived in Hays, Kansas until 1993, then moved to Topeka and resided at McCrite Plaza Retirment Community until her death. She enjoyed dancing, gardening and traveling.
She married Orvel Lambert in 1935. They were divorced. She later married Leland B. Miller in 1959. He preceded her in death in 1974. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Earl Odle and two sisters; Alberta Stone and Lula Young.
Survivors include two sons; Gale Lambert and his wife Ann of Tecumseh and Geary Lambert and his wife Ella of Bremerton, WA; two grandsons, Trevin Lambert of Silverdale, Washington, and Dustin Lambert and his wife Lisa of Temple, Georgia; three granddaughters; Michele Smith and her husband Richard of Tecumseh, Gayle Nold of Topeka and Janelle Lundin and her husband Mark of Alexandria, Minnesota; three stepchildren; Virginia Peters, Sylvia Hall and Preston Miller; eleven great-grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
Mrs. Miller will lie in state after 2:00 pm Thursday, May 12 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will greet friends from 7-8:30 pm that evening.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, May 13 in the Stockton Cemetery in Stockton, Kansas.
