Helen Marie "Tootie" Cantwell, 91, of Topeka, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018.
She was born September 28, 1926, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Virgil Richard and Dorothea (Elliott) Chipman. She attended Capper Junior High School in Topeka.
Tootie retired in 1993 from the Lincoln Center in Topeka where she was a medical counselor. She was previously employed by Sears where she would meet her future husband, Danny Cantwell. They later married October 28, 1950 in Topeka, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1979. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Evelyn Bell.
Survivors include a son, David Joseph Cantwell, Phoenix, AZ; two nephews, Barry (Charlotte) Bell, Shawnee, KS and Howard (Sandy) Bell, Paso Robles, CA; and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir for 50 years. She was also a member of Alpha Beta Business Girls Sorority in Topeka. Tootie was very active participant and supporter of the Topeka Little Theater and Dale Easton's productions.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 4746 SW 21st St, Topeka. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel is assisting the family.
