Helen M. Comneck, 78, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at a Topeka care facility. She was born on September 18, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of James and Josephina Alicino Rivezzo. She had resided in New York for 67 years before moving to Topeka in 1997. Helen was a homemaker and helped to raise over a dozen foster children. She was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church. Helen married Charles Comneck on March 11, 1950. He survives. Other survivors include their children, Peter Comneck of Port Jefferson, NY, Helen Comneck of Holtsville, NY, Sue Dattilo of Topeka, Mark Comneck of Lake Jackson, TX, Tina Naeder of Indiatlantic, FL, Richie Holder of Spring Valley, NY, 8 grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew, David, Alexandra, Devon, Maggie, Charles and Richina, two brothers, Daniel Rivezzo of Massapequa, NY, Peter Rivezzo of Florida and one sister, Theresa Gianakis of Port Jefferson, NY. She was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Rivezzo and one sister, Mildred Cardillo. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Christ The King Catholic Church. Private interment will take place in Leavenworth National Cemetery. Helen will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Heart of America Hospice, 3715 S.W. 29th St., Ste. 100, Topeka, KS 66614.
