Helen Fern Corn, 86, Topeka, died Saturday, November 24, 2007 at Stormont Vail Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 23, 1921 in Wamego, the daughter of Paul and Pearl (Cooper) Day.
She married Clifford Steck in 1942 and was later divorced. In 1966, she married John H. Corn. He preceded her in death in 2003.
Helen was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She is survived by two daughters; Sandy (Mike) Lee, Paula (Bob) Vanderweide; two step daughters, Sharon Reinard and Karen Patterson; step son, John A. Corn; a sister, Diana Fisher; three brothers, Bob Day, Jack Day and Dale Day; ten grandchildren, Traci Reilly, Carey Lorson, Kellie Wanamaker, Lee Karge, Matt Patterson, Brad Vanderweide, Kristy Lucero, Heather Bass, Kim Poluch and Travis Vanderweide; ten great grandchildren, Megan, Ryan, Shelby, Mikey, Lizzy, Courtney, Zack, Grae, Hailey and Jake; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Polly Purdum; and three brothers, Don, Neil and Dean Day.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Mount Hope Mausoluem Chapel. Entombment will be in Mount Hope Mausoleum. Helen will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. today.
