Helen C. Gore, 92, of Auburn, passed away Sat. March 7, 2009, at Auburn Homestead Assisted Living. She was born on Sept. 4, 1916, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Samuel M. and Fannie (Robinson) Clark.
Helen married William H. Gore on April 17, 1942, in Key West, FL. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1950.
Helen was employed as a Telecommunications Secretary for Southwestern Bell for 28 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
Survivors include one daughter, Billie and husband, Wally Slusser, Topeka; sister, Dorothy Cunningham; sister-in-law, Cora Ross; grandson, Micah Slusser and 2 great-grandsons, Nolan and Noah, and grandson, Jordan and wife, Rachel Slusser; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Clark; one sister, Barbara Christiansen and a niece, Carol Kopp.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 13th at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Helen will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Thurs. with visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
