Helen "Barbara" (Degnan) Hinton, 83, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016. She was born November 25, 1932, in Marysville, Kansas, the daughter of George William and Helen Bell (McCord) Degnan.
Barbara was a graduate of Topeka High School and attended Washburn University. She was employed by the Kansas State Hospital, Martin Tractor Company, and the Kansas State Board of Education. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, and had a passion for art and painting. She was a supporter of the Topeka Art Guild.
Barbara always took a special interest in the lives of others, which made her a valuable co-worker and friend.
Survivors include nieces, Yvonne Norby of Derby, Kansas, and Charmiann Townsend of McCook, Nebraska; and numerous great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held at a later date in Marysville, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library.
